American war hero

This is my friend of 20 years, to me he was poppa John. He was with the 82nd airborn, stormed Normandy and fought the battle of the bulge. He was a wonderful friend and had many stories to tell. I saw him almost every day and was a funny, feisty old coot and a very opinionated man. I had many a good time with him. He would be 82 today and couldn't wait to turn it so his age would be the same as his army company. We lost him yesterday, I love him very much, he will be missed.

MARCH MADNESS

Small turnout, lots of fun. This is our main street downtown, Scientology had pretty much taken over and shut down our downtown, many people avoid it.

PIRATES INVADE TAMPA

GASPARILLA PIRATE FESTIVA

This is the annual celebration held in the city of Tampa, Fl. It celebrates the apocryphal legend of Jose Gaspar, supposedly a Spanish pirate captain who operated in southwest Florida. The theme is an "invasion" by Gasparilla and his men which begins when they arrive on a 165' long pirate ship, the Jose Gaspar, in Tampa Bay and land near downtown Tampa. The mayor of Tampa (Pam Iorio) then lends the key of the city to the pirate captain and a parade ensues down Bayshore Blvd.. The "krewes" throw beads, coins and other items while shooting blank pistols from floats during the parade. The average attendance for the event is over 400,000 people.
